You´re a read-a-holic? Then this course is the right place for you!

Reading is fun and also broadens the mind. Therefore the focus in this course will be on reading English novels and/or short stories, from classical novels to brandnew young adult literature. We'll deal with plots, characters, narrative techniques and we'll also discuss various current issues that come up in the books.

We´ll read around 4 texts and students will be involved in the choice of books that will be read.

  reading habits analyzing,e.g. Inventing Elliot;  comparing main characters in various books (class reader and/or individually chosen book)

• Growing up in a world of rules and regulations
  

  comparing main themes in various books e.g. Inventing Elliot and Lord of the Flies the importance of reading analyzing elements that make a good book analysis of individual reader

• Literature and film
  

  e.g. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas historical facts in fictional books; The Great Gatsby (NY in literature, comparing book to movie), Noughts and Crosses analysis of individual reader

A fairly good command of English and interest in reading.

Pupils in bilingual classes could already attend this course in their 6th year.

Costs for books will have to be covered by the students.
